Jagat Paikara is a mining graduate from the Moscow Mining Institute at Moscow State University. After graduation he served for three years as a mining consultant in a private company in Nepal, mostly in prospecting and survey works. Jagat joined the Central Mine Planning & Design Institute (CMPDI) a subsidiary company of Coal India Limited(CIL) at Ranchi in 1983, and mostly associated with planning of opencast coal mines of different capacities for a different subsidiary of Coal India Limited. Jagat was transferred to Northern Coalfield Limited(NCL), Singrauli in early 1989 and was associated for the planning of all the projects of NCL. Jagat worked om different capacities until becoming the Head of the planning department at NCL, where he was responsible for planning, authors supervision, dragline deployment schemes, drilling & blasting, monthly survey measurement of overburden removal at all NCL mines. He expanded of all the projects to maximum capacity of 15 Mtpa and introduced preparation of detailed annual operational plans for all opencast mines at Singrauli. In 2008 Jagat joined Reliance Power and planned the first opencast coal mine for a capacity of 20 Mtpa, with the deployment of largest size mining equipment in India. This mine is in operation and has produced 17Mt. coal just in its 4th year. The largest mine Jagat has planned is the capacity of 40 Mtpa with latest technology of IPCC(Inpit Crushing & Conveying System). At Reliance, Jagat has planned different mines in India and Indonesia for a capacity of 100 Mtpa.
