Arnulfo Robles

Mr. Robles has more than 25 years experience in the coal industry. He started his career in Philippine Rock Products Inc. (PHILROCK) and eventually transferred to Semirara Coal Corporation (presently known as Semirara Mining and Power Corporation). He graduated with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Management Engineering in 1983 and took up Master in Business Administration at the Rizal Technological University. In 2008, he finished the degree of Bachelor of Laws. He traveled to Canada in 2010 when he attended the North America Mining Conference in Laurentian University in Sudbury, Ontario. He had also attended various conferences in the United States such as the MINExpo in Las Vegas, Nevada and in Washington DC. He was thrice invited to Japan and took part in Kyushu Institute of Technology's coal beneficiation and clean coal technology programs sponsored by the Japan Coal Energy Center (JCOAL) and attended the environmental protection program sponsored by the Association of Overseas Technical Scholars (AOTS) in Tokyo. He represented the Philippines (private sector) in the ASEAN Forum on Coal Council Meetings in Bali and Jakarta, Indonesia; Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Pattaya all in Thailand; and this year (2015) in Halong City, Vietnam. He is a Philippine-delegate to the ASEAN Coal Database Workshop in Bandung, Indonesia in 2013. This year (2015), he represented the Philippines in the Carbon Capture and Storage Workshop in Jakarta, Indonesia sponsored by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. He continues to serve as a resource person in the regional consultative meetings sponsored by the Philippine Department of Energy and AFOC Philippines from 2008 up to the present. He presented a paper entitled “Coal Utilization in the Philippines” in 2012 Lafarge National Conference in Intercontinental Hotel as well as presented the same title but with wider coverage in 2012 Upstream Energy Conference in SMX Convention Center. COALTRANS invited him as a Session Moderator and Panelist in 2013 Emerging Asian Coal Markets held in Conrad Hotel, Bangkok. He attended the 2013 ASEAN Energy Business Forum and ASEAN Energy Awards in Bali, Indonesia. He is one of the panelists in the 2014 Coal Business and Policy Forum organized by Leverage International Consultants in the New World Hotel. At present, he is the Executive Director of PHILCOAL as well as the Vice-President of the ASEAN Forum on Coal (AFOC) National Committee of the Philippines. Finally, he is one of the Founding Members of the Philippine Council for the Advancement of Association Executives organized in 2014.
